Our Ethos & Environmental Policy
1.5% of all of our profit goes to the World Land Trust to support the preservation of our environment: worldlandtrust.org
We also regularly support other projects locally, nationally and internationally such as Moor Trees, the Medical Foundation for the Victims of Torture, and the Sikuani people of Colombia.
We have a charity that raises and accepts funds to support people from less privileged circumstances and people from areas of conflict to work with us.
We travel by train whenever possible. Since adopting this policy at the beginning of 2007, (Euro Star rocks!), we have cut our plane travel by 80%.  We also encourage students to travel by train and to lift share.
We use and encourage others to use solar power, insulation, re-cycling, and the joys of composting.
We use sustainably sourced paper and plant based inks for all our printing.
On our catered workshops, we use chiefly organic, local food and waste is composted and recycled where possible.
We are carbon neutral, and pay into EquiClimate to offset the carbon we use. We do not see this as a carte blanch to produce more carbon, but feel it is helpful to offset what we do use. www.ebico.co.uk/equiclimate
We use electricity from renewables. good-energy.co.uk
We bank with the Co-Operative Bank and invest in green futures.
We buy fair trade and organic where possible.
We have elders whose chief job is to laugh at us as much as possible and help us to keep our feet on the ground.
We try to gently educate and inform.
Each year, we are committed to studying something we haven’t studied before so that we stay grounded in that ‘beginners’ feeling. This year, it was catamaran sailing. Needless to say, we got wet!
