Your Voice Matters
31st March – 5th April 2018 with Susannah Darling Khan,
assisted by Yasia Leiserach
Set free the medicine songs which live inside you
Your voice matters! Whether you speak or sing, your voice carries intimate information about your state of being which is unconsciously de-coded by everyone who hears you. How connected are you? How aligned are you with what you are saying? How free are you to be you?
I have been working with my own voice and others’ voices for many years in Resonance and the Journey of Empowerment. It is an intimate and vulnerable journey to risk becoming audible. I know it can be scary, but I also know that if we allow our fear to stop us, we will carry our songs and our truths to our graves.
I have recognised again and again that what we all hold inside us is unique, creative treasure. With enough intention, courage and loving support, our songs and our true words can emerge to spread their wings and carry us into a new place of freedom, love and empowerment.
On this retreat, I am joined by Yasia Leiserach (AP1) whose magnificent singing many of you will know from the Long Dance. Yasia will lead us in deep Bhajan song, and her experience with her own “Raw Voice” work will support the individual work.
We will have times in the elective where we go into a cycle of song, silence and movement. Whether you are on AP4, or are from previous APs, you are welcome to come and strengthen your connection with your own embodied voice.
Your Voice Matters is for those whose work involves (or will involve) leadership, whether as a Movement Medicine teacher or facilitator, or in any other sphere, your voice is a powerful instrument.
This elective is designed to help you find your connected, embodied voice, your true words, your style and your own medicine songs. We will work towards creating an inner landscape of freedom with many tools ranging from technique to support, from movement to re-framing, to build your trust in the being and the voice that you are. We have all this and the powerful joy of singing together which brings such balm and strength to the heart. Our voice is part of our human inheritance. Let’s use it!
This retreat is one of the electives for the Apprenticeship and is only open to current Apprentices and those who have completed the Apprenticeship Programme.
