Beyond Muscle and Bone: Making death your ally in life

In shamanic tradition, death is the ultimate teacher. Death offers a perspective that helps us to reflect and to see ourselves clearly. We can invite this benevolent form of death to be an ally for us while we are living and create a good relationship with it along the way.

During this weekend workshop, we invite the great force that is death to be a loving guide and teacher for us.

  • What needs to die within us to let this relationship in?
  • What needs to die inside us to know ourselves as more than muscle and bone?

We will prepare together and give space to becoming conscious of where we are with death. We will then dance deeply through our stories about death before taking what we find into ritual. We will clear away old assumptions about death so that we can begin a new chapter in which death becomes our companion and guide.

Death destroys self-importance.
Death supports us to see things in perspective.
Death can be a good friend.

When we dance deep and long all that we cling to can start to fall away. Let the spirit dance the body. Experience yourself beyond muscle and bone.

It was the first time I had danced with you – and I danced in new ways. Also, because you chose some very special music. Thank you. I have done dying workshops before but this was the first one to discover the incredible openness of death which I had always treated as a penalty for wrongdoing. I was deeply touched by my own dying and I appreciate a lot how you held the space throughout the whole ritual.Marcel Bernet, Sculptor
Movement Medicine in Ljubljana (with Ya’Acov) was not the escape from my real life for a weekend. The experience with the Movement Medicine is so tangible, so real and powerful, that it smoothly overflows in my everyday life, it does not change anything but changes my attitude towards everything.
